Have you ever tried to offer free consultations to your clients?
If you've never done it before, I hope you will take this technique into consideration... so here's a little challenge for you.
Please read the following, and feel free to participate, it is the best way to prove it actually works.
Marketing strategies, especially on the Internet, your website or blog, its content and social media are absolutely necessary, but used one at a time they do not guarantee you will get all the clients you want. These methods are perfect to build your list of potential clients, to create your profile and increase your credibility. ... and especially to have clients contact you!
But once the contact is made, it is necessary for the client to invest in you, in your programmes or products. And for this, you need a direct connection with your clients.
How do you do that?
It's very simple. All you need to do is to use your skills as a coach, to do what you know and enjoy doing. ... create a connection with your clients.
You can even use this technique for other types of programme, whether it is a video session, a seminar or training.
A Consultation, is it only a Session?
Most schools recommend their coaching students to offer free sessions to showcase their techniques, which is perfectly normal. In this case, I prefer to recommend a request for payment, even if it’s only 5 €, for two reasons:
1. The client makes a financial commitment (even if it is only a very small one).
2. The coaching student learns to manage the financial aspect with his clients.
The consultation takes place within a different framework. Usually these consultations are short, tackle a precise problem (based on the initial targeting) and focus on two issues:
1. To give the client an overview of the coaching process.
2. To identify the client's needs, and in particular the gap between the solution sought by the client and his present situation.
In this way, you can use your coaching skills to ask the right questions and listen carefully to your client’s response. Then you can quickly determine where your client is now, where he wants to get to and of course identify the difference between the two.
Your client will receive useful information through your questioning process and will be more inclined to hire you to do a complete job.
As part of the consultation, you do not actually solve the problem, you just identify the gap between the problem and the solution and explain how you can help the client.
In addition, if you have targeted your market correctly, it will be much easier to connect with those clients who contact you. And after a few attempts, you will be great at it!
Do not hesitate to add your rates to your website or your blog, as this way you make a "pre-sale" of your services or products.
How to avoid the answer that frightens so many coaches?
The answer that many coaches try to avoid is: "I do not have the means to do it."
And many coaches avoid the invitation to sign up to the programme simply because they are frightened of the answer.
All your fears would disappear in a second if you knew exactly how to use this argument in your favour.
Ask the client a question which implies that the problem has already been solved.
That's all you have to do to turn this obstacle into an opportunity. To say "see you next week" rather than "thank you for your call".
