I know you’ve heard or read this somewhere before.... nowadays "believe in yourself" seems like a "must- do"....
As corny as it may sound sometimes, it is actually true. How do you expect your clients to believe in you if you don’t believe in yourself?
Take a moment to think about it. Be completely and utterly honest with yourself. If coaching is what you really want to do (and your intuition tells you this is the way to go), then do it!! Do not think about the obstacles, the rejections, the failure. A negative attitude ruins everything. You are the only one who will stop yourself from getting what you want; it won’t be the fault of your client, the economy, or the coaching business.
So you’ve listened to your intuition and have decided to take your coaching to another level and start your own coaching business (or improve your existing coaching business). Now would be a good time to make a list of what you can do as a coach. Here are some tips you could use:
1. Make a list of your skills and how you can use them to maximum effect.

A good coach always knows what his pluses and minuses are. So in order to be effective, focus on your assets and skills and use them in your coaching – in your programmes, sessions, products and articles. In this way you will always give the best of yourself.
2. Create the profile of your ideal client.
I know, it is a very tough market and you cannot afford to reject a client. But trust me, if you keep working with clients who do not appreciate your work, who don’t put into practice anything you’ve taught them, you will no longer feel motivated and your work will lack quality. So first of all, try to determine who your ideal clients are, how motivated they are to succeed and to apply what they’ve learned from you. You will have the same positive attitude as they have.
3. Imagine a conversation with a client – what you would say and do to help that client solve his problem.
It is a kind of "role play", but it works. If you specialise in a certain area, it would be better if you knew exactly what to say to your clients. By doing this you will know the questions and the answers, and your clients will know that a straightforward answer, without hesitation, definitely comes from an expert.

4. Speak from your own experience or your clients’ true life stories.
Most importantly, even if you are a beginner or have previously been unsuccessful in this business, learn things for yourself. Have your own experiences. Your clients will not believe you if you just quote from other people’s books. If they wanted this, they would have just got it themselves from a book store, with less time and money spent. You will be credible and genuine if you can give them an example from your own experience and thus help them solve their problems.
OK, you cannot experience everything, that’s true. But you can talk to your clients about other clients’ stories. Since they are real life stories, people will believe them and will have much more confidence in you as an expert. They will say to themselves "if that person could solve his/her problem, so can I".
So we’re back to the confidence issue. Even if you are not successful from the start, or you sometimes face a bumpy road or hit a brick wall, there’s no need to get discouraged and feel like giving up. Keep the faith, believe in yourself and in what you can do. No one can take that away from you, no matter what! Believe that if others could do it, so can you, and your clients will believe it too!
