Ever since you trained as a coach, you thought you had what it takes to make it in this business. All the training you did and the books you read, taught you how to be a coach and gave you a general idea of how to get clients. Time went by and you discovered that all the strategies and techniques you studied do not work, and, most importantly, every day you see how others are making it big while you keep struggling.
Regardless of the strategies the successful coaches use, what actually got them to where they are today is their attitude, the way they see their coaching and their determination to be successful. They knew right from the start that this was what they wanted, they were confident about their success and did not allow anyone or anything to tell them otherwise.
Commit to your own success
If you have decided up until now to create a coaching business which will bring you success, you must know that it requires your commitment, your tenacity. When the answer is ‘Yes’ to the question "Am I willing to do whatever it takes to succeed?", this means you are ready to take action, even if you may have to review your own beliefs about coaching.
It doesn’t mean you only give it a try, it doesn’t work that way! It means that you must feel fully aligned with your intentions, when your coaching is stronger than anything else and every action goes towards the goal you have set of knowing how to develop a successful coaching business. Measure your success in the short term and long term. Your big or small daily successes will always depend on your state of mind, do not forget that.
You may have doubts or setbacks, but that won’t stop you from finding your way, it will only make you look for alternatives and use them to your own advantage.
Their success relies on your success
What helps you greatly is to perceive yourself as if you had already succeeded. Act as if your office was full, as if you were in high demand, and especially as if you had already achieved what you wanted. Make sure your clients feel that in your attitude and you will see how their attitude towards you changes. They will know that they work with a successful coach, and they will get more confidence in your abilities and in themselves. It is all about the feeling they get while working with you. Once they know you are good at what you do, they feel safe and secure in the knowledge that the specialist can solve their problem too. So you see, their success relies on your success.
Now you are confident, in your mind you are already where you want to be, but it also takes a few steps to turn all this into reality. How do you do that?
- Work only with those clients who are committed and during the hours that suit you
- Your financial objective must set your prices, not the other way round
- Develop income generating activities; your time has value. For other activities, delegate.
Once you do that, the results will come very soon. Do not be afraid that if you reject some clients you won’t have enough revenue. Once you work with those who are as committed as you are and are willing to pay you to help them, you will find that these are the clients you need to work with, and I’m sure there will be lots of them.
Create programmes and products which can help increase your revenue and focus on what you love to do and what you do best: coaching. Every day, do what should be done to help you get closer to your objectives. And also do what should be done to help your clients get closer to their objectives too. They rely on you and once they find out you are the successful coach everyone wants to work with, they will come to you and will not take “that can’t be solved” for an answer!
