I’m sure you have heard or read about the “Law of Attraction”, the new theory which says that the way we think influences our existence, and that positive or negative thinking brings about positive or negative physical results. Maybe you do not believe in this theory, but there is one truth you can take from it and apply to your everyday life, and in your coaching business: if, in your mind, you are already successful, if you have self- confidence, then you are already half-way there.
You already are successful... in your mind!
It doesn’t matter if you are just starting out as a coach, or if you are already a coach who is successful but considering your business differently, if you have come to realise that you must concentrate on the business aspect of your coaching, ACT AS IF YOU HAD ALREADY SUCCEEDED!
Even if you’re a bit sceptical, what can you lose by giving it a try? I’m sure you have already tried many strategies and formulas to get you more clients and increase your revenue, and they didn’t seem to work. So why not try something which is easy to use and doesn’t cost you a thing? Use your imagination and see yourself the way you want to be. Isn’t that a nice picture?
Now, act as if your diary was full, as if you were in high demand, and especially as if you had already achieved what you wanted. It only takes a degree of confidence and the results will come very soon. After all, that is what your clients want to see about you and that is the Magnetic Message you must send out to them. They want to work only with those coaches who are in demand, the successful ones.
OK, so far it only seems theoretical to you. But there is a practical side to it. What can you do to get what you actually want, which means more clients and revenue? All you have to do is take a few steps to get closer to your goal:
Work only with your favourite clients and during the hours that suit you
Set your prices according to your financial objectives
Focus your time and energy on income-generating activities. For other activities, learn to delegate.
The criteria for success
After that, you must set the criteria for your success to determine which opportunities are worth pursuing for you. To be certain if an opportunity or a project is a good idea for you, you must answer ‘Yes’ to these questions relating to each opportunity. This way you know that it will bring you more clients and more revenue. Here are some to help you:
1. Does this opportunity make you more credible with your target clientele?
2. Does this opportunity provide you with a leadership role?
3. Will this opportunity promote your skills and your products?
4. Will this project generate targeted clients?
5. Can you recycle this project into a programme or a product?
6. Will this project help you keep your pace?
7. Will this project get you out of your comfort zone?
There may also be times when you feel demoralised or worn out by the obstacles you have to overcome. If this happens, it helps tremendously to talk to your biggest fan or to your very good friend, those who support you and believe in you. When you’re in this situation, try to remember the reasons that led you to coaching and what your goal is. But do not let this last for too long. Find the strength to get up and move on, to do what needs to be done to help you get closer to your objective.
Never forget that your clients must not be aware of or feel your struggle. The message they must get is that you are a confident, successful coach who knows what to do to help them succeed as well. That is what draws them towards you, that is what makes you Magnetic.
